Projects intended to create the appropriate surrounding space for presenting Makarov’s work have led to cooperation with architects including Michael Marshall, Max Dudler and Sergej Tchoban, who, in animated interchange with the artist, have conceived of architectural spaces designed solely for the purpose of presenting single pictures. In each case, wayfinding architecture leads the beholder to the piece displayed. Within the solitude of the chamber, visitors are provided with an opportunity for taking pause and gathering their thoughts, enabling them to enter into constructive dialogue with the quietude; to feel and experience the stillness; to become enthralled by it and to learn to bear it.
